  • Reviewing complex and higher-risk cases, including referrals requiring advanced technical judgement.
  • Analysing claims documents including medical, financial, occupational and lifestyle information to evaluate risk.
  • Supporting underwriting governance activities, audits and quality assurance reviews.
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues to enhance technical knowledge and capability.
  • Building effective relationships with reinsurers and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting automation, system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.

To ensure that this role is carried out to the desired level, the successful candidate will need the following skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in life insurance underwriting and/or protection claims.
  • Strong technical knowledge and decision-making ability.
  • Experience assessing complex and higher-risk cases.
  • A sound understanding of underwriting philosophy, risk management and reinsurance principles.
  • Commercial awareness and excellent judgement.
  • Experience coaching or supporting the development of colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements, including Data Protection and Anti-Money Laundering obligations.
  • Professional qualifications such as ALU, ACII or Dip CII would be advantageous.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and excellent planning and organisational abilities.

If you, or you know someone who is interested in applying for this position please forward your/their current CV with a covering letter to careers@ifg-ltd.com.
