RL360 achieved 7% growth in new business in 2018
RL360 achieved almost 7% growth in new business in 2018, with sales in PVNBP* terms climbing to £890m.
This was up from 2017’s figure of £835m, fuelled by strong performances across single premium (SP) and regular premium (RP) business. SP sales saw a 6% increase on 2017, while RP enjoyed an 8% increase.
New business results were particularly strong in the Middle East and Latin America, contributing to the 6.6% increase in total sales for the year.
The 2018 results continue RL360’s record of year on year growth, in the face of challenges across the market.
2018 was another busy year for RL360, starting well as AKG awarded the company a B+ for financial strength (no other international life company has a higher rating).
We strengthened our Latin American presence by opening an office in Uruguay and we appointed three new members to the sales team in the region.
We also refreshed our RL360 brand to reflect our progress and celebrate our strengths as a company.
Oracle, our lump sum bond, was added to the tablet app, allowing advisers to submit applications to us on the go and we made some improvements to the way planholders can make credit card payments online.
We celebrated the 5th anniversary of the management-led buy-out of RL360 and we also celebrated winning Best International Life Group (Non-UK) at the International Fund and Product Awards.

*PVNBP = Present Value of New Business Premiums. This is calculated as total single premium sales received in the year plus the discounted value, at point of sale, of regular premiums expected to be received over the term of new contracts.
